Our new extension offers Shopify Plus brands an easy way to integrate Yotpo Loyalty with Shop Pay.

The most critical place you need to empower customers to redeem their loyalty rewards is at checkout. That’s why we’re so excited to announce our brand new Shopify Checkout Extension, which allows brands to offer frictionless redemption experiences where it matters most.

Shopify recently overhauled their checkout experience, giving brands a new drag-and-drop editor, seamless integration with Shop Pay, and the ability to further customize their checkouts with app extensions. To support this innovation, we built our checkout extension to better integrate Yotpo Loyalty with Shopify’s checkout.

This extension gives Shopify Plus brands on Yotpo’s Pro, Premium, and Enterprise plans a new way to allow loyalty customers to redeem points for a discount when placing an order. According to a recent Shopify study, checkouts going through Shop Pay have an average checkout-to-order rate of 1.72x times higher than those going through regular checkouts. Why? Because Shop Pay provides a seamless shopping experience. Once a buyer uses Shop Pay for the first time, their information is saved for future purchases — they can then securely speed through checkout with a simple tap. By giving customers the option to redeem their points through Shop Pay, we’re making Shopify’s checkout experience even more convenient.

What are the benefits of using the new Checkout Extension?

The Checkout Extension app lets you add a dropdown element to your checkout page that includes rewards logged-in customers can redeem for points they’ve earned. All of a loyalty customer’s relevant existing rewards are included automatically — there’s no need to choose them manually.

Not only is Checkout Extension compatible with Shopify’s new checkout experience and Shop Pay, but brands can also enjoy these benefits when upgrading from the old checkout modules:

  • Seamless redemption experiences: If a customer is logged into their Shopify account and eligible to redeem a reward, the highest option available to them will be selected by default. If they click on the dropdown menu to choose a different reward to redeem, the rewards will appear in order of points from lowest to highest.

  • Increased loyalty program engagement: If they are logged in and do not have enough points to redeem a reward, they will see how many points they are missing to receive a reward.

  • Increased loyalty program awareness: If they are not logged in to their Shopify store account, they will see a message prompting them to create an account and redeem a reward.

Brands who started using Checkout Extension improved their loyalty program participation rate by 103% on average! Why? For a few reasons. First, since shoppers using Shop Pay are between 50-80% of the customer base of these brands, seeing those redemptions at checkout for the first time was a game changer. In addition, adding the message to logged out customers increased awareness of the loyalty program, leading to higher participation. And finally, with the highest reward option selected by default, shoppers were able to quickly and easily see the value of their rewards.
