When we first started this ambitious initiative in 2018, we had no idea where it would eventually take us…

Inspired by the boundary-pushing women on our own team at Yotpo, we initially started the Amazing Women in eCommerce program to be a once-a-year, online celebration of other kick-ass women across the eCommerce ecosystem. The idea for this exciting initiative was put forth by our very own Talia Shani, Director of Marketing, UK.

Our 2018 Inaugural Class of Honorees were Founders, eCommerce Directors, Marketing Managers, Designers, and more. While we were thrilled just to have launched AWIE, the incredible response from our burgeoning community led us to realize that we had to take this program to the next level — and fast. And when we opened the call for nominations for 2019, we pledged to donate $5 for every nomination to Girls Inc. — a tradition we’ve carried on every year since to support the next generation of women business leaders.

She is by far the most influential and needle-moving leader in our space.” – from a 2023 AWIE nomination.

In 2019, we featured our second annual class of Honorees, but that was only the beginning. We hosted our first-ever live event in June, followed by a networking breakfast and panel discussion at our DSTN:D2C Conference in September.

2020 saw the relaunch and expansion of our dedicated AWIE website, opening of our Instagram account, launching our community newsletter, publishing a dedicated Giving Page on Girls Inc., and, best of all, hosting our first-ever Honoree Luncheon.

She is such a rising star. She is smart and creative which is the perfect mix for a marketer to go far. I can’t wait to see where she goes with her career.” – from a 2023 AWIE nomination.

To date, we’ve received almost 11,500 nominations and raised almost $140,000 for Girls Inc.!

Though COVID caused us to pivot here and there, we continued our AWIE programming online and welcomed the 2021 Class of Honorees. We also launched the AWIE Slack Community at the end of the year, which now has nearly 2,500 members from all corners of the eCommerce industry.

She consistently leads with kindness and compassion while also being one of the most brilliant marketers I have ever worked with. I will be hard pressed in my career to find another leader like her.” – from a 2023 AWIE nomination.

In 2022, we introduced categories for the AWIE Honorees, so we could recognize women at every stage of their eCommerce careers. More than 3,300 women were nominated across five categories: Leader, marketer, Founder, Rising Star, and Innovator. We also held intimate, in-person events all over the world, bringing together amazing women for networking, learning, and fun.

2023 is shaping up to be our best year yet. We received almost 3,700 nominees, breaking all of our previous records and raising more than $18,500 for Girls Inc. In March, we’ll announce the AWIE 2023 Honorees at a live event, and after that, we’ll work on making our vibrant community bigger, stronger, and more connected.
