Now, Bulk has evolved from their protein supplement roots to encompass a whole host of health and fitness products, from vitamins to sports equipment and more, across 13 countries in Europe and counting.

With a shifting focus on different health product categories and an expanding international business model, Bulk was looking to take their eCommerce presence to the next level. Creating products in new categories opened them up to different demographics, and they needed to ensure that their brand reflected their growing vision and appealed to their widening audience.
To achieve this, Bulk was looking to invest in developing a more recognizable brand and building a dedicated following. They needed a solution that would allow them to engage their community, form a competitive differentiator that would set them apart from other products in the space, and establish Bulk as a place for holistic health, not just for muscular men looking to bulk up.
Bulk needed to ensure their eCommerce platform could handle the requirements that came with expansion, including multi-site operations and seamless integration with their ERP system. They turned to Magento specialist agency The Pixel, who migrated the brand from their existing bespoke solution.
To bolster their brand-building initiative and support their expansion efforts, The Pixel recommended a switch to Yotpo’s solutions for Reviews and Visual UGC, a move that enabled Bulk to tap into the power of authentic customer content on social, in emails, and onsite. As a company that sells nutritional products, Bulk is bound by the restrictions of the FDA, which scans their site on an almost daily basis for incorrect or misleading information. To protect their customers, Bulk wanted to leverage the power of social proof to let shoppers do the talking for them.
Implementing Yotpo Reviews has helped Bulk collect a staggering 200,000+ reviews across all domains and over 1,000 reviews per month, per domain. Magento Commerce Cloud and The Pixel gave Bulk the ability to cater to any level of demand on a global scale, with a 32% improvement in page load speed. These factors combined have helped Bulk achieve 30% YoY growth, as well as an impressive 150% uplift in average time onsite.
Rather than make claims about how a product affects health and fitness outcomes, Bulk uses customer reviews to educate shoppers about their products and recommend items based on the goals they are hoping to achieve. To ensure compliance, they also use Yotpo’s moderation capabilities to make sure reviews remain factually accurate.
To help support their growing international presence, Bulk leverages Yotpo’s syndication feature to showcase their impressive amount of product reviews across their multiple domains. In January 2019, they created a .eu site to cover multiple European countries; by syndicating their reviews directly to the new site, they were able to launch the domain with a sizable amount of reviews already published, helping establish consumer trust across a large geographic region.
