Founded in 2013, Slumber Cloud is a bedding brand that offers everything from duvets and comforters to mattress pads and bed sheets. However, unlike other bedding brands, Slumber Cloud leverages the innovative technology that was originally designed for NASA spacesuits to create products that regulate users’ temperature throughout the night. Their mission is to help users get a better night’s rest without feeling too hot or cold.
Challenges
As an innovative brand making its way through the bedding market, Slumber Cloud partnered with Yotpo Reviews soon after their brand launched as they needed a solution that would allow them to collect and display reviews.
While Slumber Cloud began to grow and gain more brand awareness, their Customer Service team started to receive a lot of questions about their products. Customers found it difficult to search through the brand’s reviews without having to continuously scroll to find the information that was most relevant to them.
“Our customer service reps were asking, ‘how do we find one- and two-star reviews?” says Chris Garza, Head of eCommerce at Slumber Cloud. “Customers want to be able to find this information easily when they’re doing research.”
Because customers had no easy way to search through the reviews, the Slumber Cloud Customer Service team had to respond to each customer’s questions manually. And doing so on a continuous basis took time away from other tasks the team needed to focus on.
In addition to making their reviews easier to search through, the Slumber Cloud team also wanted to enhance their customers’ on-site experience in order to boost engagement and conversion.
They wanted to elevate how their hard-earned reviews were displayed, and they wanted their customers to have the ability to move from product page to product page without any site speed interruptions.

Solutions
Because the collaboration between Slumber Cloud and Yotpo was working so well — leading to the collection of 17,000 reviews across all of the brand’s products — they knew they wanted to continue growing through this partnership even during periods of change.
“We did a rebrand around 2020 and took a look at all of our apps,” says Katie Mellott, Brand Manager at Slumber Cloud. “And we knew we wanted to keep Yotpo. Yotpo is really responsive, and we get a really solid product, so why change what’s working well for us?”
And with help from their dedicated Customer Success Manager, the Slumber Cloud team created a better on-site experience for their customers.
With Smart Filters, new and existing customers could easily search for relevant details within Slumber Cloud’s reviews by selecting filters such as “weight,” “feel,” ”temperature,” and more. Because these filters were seamlessly implemented into the brand’s Reviews widget, Slumber Cloud’s Customer Service team didn't have to field nearly as many questions as before.
Slumber Cloud also took advantage of the Reviews Carousel to display more of their reviews throughout their product pages. “Our customer feedback is super important to us,” says Garza. “And displaying their feedback on the site can help influence others to make purchases.”
In addition to the Reviews Carousel, the brand upgraded to Yotpo’s new and improved Reviews widget, which allowed them to use the Bold Layout. The new layout made it easy for the brand to display reviews on their product pages in a seamless way so that shoppers can view more reviews content all at once.
Because the new Reviews widget is optimized for performance, Slumber Cloud’s product pages loaded faster as well. “The new Reviews widget loads a lot quicker than the old one,” says Garza. “Even when you’re moving through different product pages, it’s a lot faster so the experience is dramatically better than the old widget.”
The Slumber Cloud team was also impressed by how quickly they were able to upgrade to the new widget and customize it to fit their brand’s needs. “I was incredibly surprised by how quick and easy it was to set up the new widget. I think I got everything set up in less than 30 minutes, and I’m very impressed by how well it works,” says Garza.

Results
Smart Filters streamlined the process of finding relevant product information, and it empowered Slumber Cloud customers to make more informed purchase decisions.
After adding the Reviews Carousel to their product pages, the brand could display more of their hard-earned reviews directly to their site to drive conversion.
The Bold Layout within the new Reviews widget allowed the brand to display their customer content in a more accessible way. In turn, this allowed shoppers to assess whether a product was the right fit for them because they had the ability to view many reviews all at once.
As a result of these enhancements to the on-site experience, Slumber Cloud shoppers spent an average of 10 minutes and 32 seconds on site. This is a 228% lift in average time spent on site compared to when the brand didn’t have Smart Filters and when they were using the old Reviews widget.
After testing their Google Lighthouse Score with and without Yotpo’s new Reviews widget, the Slumber Cloud team saw zero impact to their score. Google Lighthouse Scores indicate the overall health and quality of a site. And because Yotpo’s new widget has been optimized for performance — and doesn’t include any of the CSS and JavaScript coding from the old widget — Slumber Cloud shoppers could browse through the brand’s site without any interruptions.
